The primary goal of this program is to divert persons with mental illness from the Duval County Pretrial Detention Facility to appropriate treatment resources in the community. This program also facilitates communication between the mental health service providers in the community and the provider of medical/mental health services in the jail. Improved communication enhances continuity of care for persons with mental health issues and ensures appropriate community linkages upon release.
