Sponsored by LSF Health Systems, LLC and the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families
The Therapeutic Family Program (TFP) is designed to serve adults who have not been able to live independently in the community. All persons enrolled in the program reside with an adult foster family and are provided intensive targeted case management services. The focus of the program is to improve the quality of life of each person served within a normal family environment, and emphasis is placed on making the individual an integral member of the family with shared responsibilities. The program gives individuals an opportunity to experience and benefit from a family environment and to receive the level of support necessary to be successful in the community. Each participant is assisted in choosing a foster home and is assigned a targeted case manager to help him or her to access additional needed services.
This program recruits adult foster homes licensed by the State of Florida to provide foster care to adults who are living with a serious, persistent mental illness. Each foster home is required to complete an orientation and training program that focuses on understanding and meeting the needs of the persons served.
